    Tender Points and Trigger Points

People suffering from fibromyalgia eventually develop tender points (also known as) trigger points, that are distributed all over the body, but concentrate around the neck and shoulders, and around the low back. Tender points which we identify as trigger points in massage are not well understood. The studies of affected tissue have yielded no useful information about how these areas develop.

Worrying that your husband considers you a burden, or that your kids question why you aren't like other moms.

A word of wisdom: Be more aware of the fact that complaining about your fibromyalgia symptoms all the time is not a good idea. It can become so overwhelming that sometimes it gets in the way of relations with the husband and the kids and with friends. Rather, if you could start talking about your personal pain less, and talk about your advocacy efforts more would certainly be wiser. Begin to show a can-do attitude is more helpful than complaining all the time.

    Support Groups

As with many chronic diseases, fibromyalgia (some spell it) fibro-myalgia seems to be helped by active participation in a support group. To find a group in your area - or to obtain more information on controlling this mysterious disease - contact the Arthritis Foundation.
