Early Signs of Prostate Cancer:
Knowing the early signs of prostate cancer...
COULD SAVE YOUR LIFE.

The early signs of prostate cancer are hard to detect. Being by far the most common in Canadian and American men, so much indeed that statistics show that one in six men will be diagnosed with it over a lifetime. Yet it remains an enigma.

There are absolutely very minimal earlier signs.

We could say that it attacks men silently. That's why you need to have regular check ups with your doctor.

Most Important CNN News for Men:

"Prostate gland enlargement is a common condition as men get older. Untreated prostate gland enlargement can block the flow of urine out of the bladder and can cause bladder, urinary tract or kidney problems." PROSTATE EXAM

There are many different kinds of prostate problems. Fortunately, many don't involve cancer, but some do.

Treatments vary but be assured that they can often be treated without affecting sexual functions.

If you have any doubt concerning your actual condition, and if only to put your mind at ease, please don't hesitate to make an appointment with your doctor. Do it!

The Symptoms:

  • Frequent urge to urinate.
  • Blood in urine or semen.
  • Painful or burning urination.
  • Difficulty in urinating.
  • Difficulty in having an erection.
  • Painful ejaculation.
  • Frequent pain or stiffness in lower back, hips, or upper thighs.
  • Inability to urinate, or
  • dribbling of urine.

  • The abnormal growth in the prostate area also known as Benign prostatic hyperplasia, refers to the increase in size of the prostate in middle-age and elderly men.

Let's say that there is a formation of cells which become large fairly discrete nodules in the periurethral region of the prostate. When sufficiently large, the nodules compress the urethral canal to cause partial, or sometimes virtually complete, obstruction of the urethra, which interferes the normal flow of urine, leading to the symptoms listed above.

This abnormal growth is believed to begin at approximately age 30. An estimated 50% of men have evidence of abnormal prostatic cells by age 50 years and 75% by age 80 years.
